The Wetterau district, between the heights of the Taunus hills in the west and
the Vogelsberg in the north east, is one of the most important cultural regions
in Germany. Over the centuries, a number of different peoples and tribes have

is part of the Rhine-Main metropolitan area is located in the centre of Germany

The Wetterau district is one of 21 districts in the state of Hessen and has the highest population growth rate of all the Hessen districts and independent towns. Today 298000 people live in the 13 towns and 12 communities. Economic analyses have shown that the economic centre of Frankfurt-Rhine/Main is one of the leading regions in Europe. The gross product of approximately 159 billion Euros in 2001 meant that every resident generated 30,323 Euros. This figure lies 29.6 percent above the national average of 23,400 Euro per head. The economic structure in this region is highly international and particularly diverse with regard to the variety of industries.
The region is a European leader with its over 2500 high-tech companies in the production,
sales and service sectors as well as over 100 research institutes. Investors will
find newly created commercial and industrial parks, affordable development land
and excellently trained and motivated employees. A dense network of motorways
and A-roads guarantees that the Rhine-Main region is easy to reach for employees
and companies whilst the international airport in Frankfurt provides easy access
to European and international destinations, a high level of mobility and freight
transfers of the highest order.
