The world-culture-heritage-list includes more than 780 recordings in 134 countries with objects of "exceptional and universal value" world-wide. Also the Limes and with it parts of the Wetterau belong to the mankind's world-culture-heritage in the meantime. The Limes is classifies as one of the most important heritages of the mankind such as the pyramids of Gizeh, the Taj Mahal in India, the Acropolis in Athens, Venice with its lagoon and the Chinese Wall.
The enrollment in the world-culture-heritage-list doesn't mean any sanction, it is called with the Wetteraukreis but the moral obligation to the UNESCO and with it the world-public, to protect the so excellent gut in the quality.
Since the special situation emerges in the Wetterau through the arched course of the Limes so that the west of Rosbach until Butzbach and the east of Nidda-Unter-Widdersheim until Limeshain-Rommelhausen of the Limes are touched, many communes of the Wetteraukreises take part in the world-culture-heritage.
The pathway of the limes with its affiliated parts (castles with villages, watchtower) became re-measured and documented in its new status.
A Limes-Development-Plan was produced that should guarantee its protection and its touristic opening.
Also in the Wetteraukreis with the cooperation of the monument-care in Hesse, the Regional Authorities and the Communes, new measurements will be carried out. New Lists on the webpage: (http://whc.unesco.org) or (http://www.unesco.de/) can be seen.
