The Airport Reichelsheim today Hitz/www.AlexanderHitz.de).
About the development of the airport:
From the newspaper “Kreisanzeiger” of 24.11.2006:
Development of commercial airport approved by district president.
Flight-operation as previously - noise-annoyance changes only in nuances
REICHELSHEIM (pd). District president Gerold Dieke approved of the development of the commercial airport in Reichelsheim. Is secured with it, according to Dieke, that the airfield-operator - this airfield Reichelsheim / Wetterau Ltds and Co. KG - "even after the alteration of European law can uphold its previous scope of operation.
The authorization essentially comprises:
The scope of the at highest annual flight-movements (48 000 plus ten percent) remains unchanged. Until now it was only allowed to start annually also airplanes and helicopters in the scope of 400 flight-movements up to 8 000 kilograms (maximum start weight).
The originally filed proposal to increase this to 10 000 kilograms was disapproved because the airfield-operator could not prove any requirement for it. "The early airfield-planning could be approved according to thorough assessment of all relevant aspects”, according to Dieke.
The population's concerns about noise in the area of the landing place were confirmed positively and negatively in nuances at some positions. However, the noise „is far under the limit, the jurisdiction determined as acceptable, before active or passive sound-protection can be demanded. Environmental protection via the abidance of restrictions is guaranteed.
The airfield-operator, residents and others may decide upon the planning of the airport. Also, a corresponding customary proclamation will take place in the next days in the cities Niddatal and Reichelsheim as well as in the communities Altenstadt, Echzell and Florstadt.
From the county-indicator of the 04.11.2005:
Approximately 300 objections against airfield-development
Public discussion-date, 16. January in Reichelsheim - opponents of the expansion fears elevated noise-harassment and sinking real estate-values.
Wolfgang Kunert REICHELSHEIM. The 16. January 2006 is an important date for many Reichelsheimer and Florstädter citizens. On this day, the public discussion-law case announced by the government-management committee in Darmstadt (RP) begins on the basis of the present objections against the planned development of the Reichelsheimer airfield. Approximately 300 opponents commented in writing in order to bring up their misgivings against the expansion, RP-Sprecher Dieter Ohl reports. According to his/its statement, it is to be reckoned that the law case will last three days. "The city-hall already was reserved”, communicated administration-co-worker Horst Wenisch of Reichelsheim. Approximately 200 complaints come from Reichelsheimer citizens and 100 from the community Florstadt. Almost all objections essentially focus on the fact that after the construction of the new airport, more noise will occur. Numerous residents would fear an endangering of their health, the press expounds. Equally, some residents fear a devaluation of their real estate. Some citizens see the protection of flora and fauna endangered.
Ohl, being the responsible hearing and plan-observation-authority as a public speaker, says that the construction serve the fulfilment of European law. Part of this is the movement of the asphalted start and landing runway by 55 meters eastward as well as their extension of until now 750 meters to 1 300 meters. As well, a raise of the weight of the airplanes admitted for this place until now from 5,7 to ten tons is anticipated. Also the grass-track will be shortened by 210 meters simultaneously, and the heliport will be are. Ohl supplemented measures, with which security-aspects stand in the foreground above all. Through the movement of the runway eastwards, the population in Florstadt’s suburb Ober-Florstadt will be relieved from noise.
This is seen differently in Florstadt. Here the residents fear an increase of the noise-level through the starting and landing airplanes, Mayor Herbert Unger reports. The public’s representation therefore disagreed with the plans few weeks ago. In the statement of reasons, Unger emphasised that one questions the present noise-arbitration expertise. The statements were based merely on statistical values. One didn't carry out measurements, representing the actual encroachments, according to Unger.
In Reichelsheim, one faces the plans more positively on the other hand. For this reason, the city councillor had decided the extension of the hire contract between city and company for 30 years. In May, Mayor Gerd Wagner had explained at citizen-meeting that the number of the annual flights won't increase also after the development. These are 48 000 with maximum for the transport of people and goods fixed. The mayor informed about the economic meaning of the place in the context. Also the business manager of the operator-company, Max Peter pipers, confirmed this. Altogether, the different operations and flight-schools employ 54 people at the place. Of those, two third are full-time-employees. If the development will not take place place, it would cause a considerable workplace-loss. Already some time ago, the business manager had pointed out that an expansion would move the settlement of wide companies to the airfield around, which would mean the creation of new workplaces mean.
On January 16, when the discussion-law cases begins, the opponents however first have the word. The city of Reichelsheim as well as the representative of the operator, the representative of the Regional Council and the aeronautical authority will be present, too. The law case is used for discussing the concerns of the development-opponents and if to possibly to refute them. After the conclusion of the talk, the Council will make a final decision, whether the development corresponds to the EU. If this decision should be cancelled, the status quo remains, Ohl explained. Thus 48 000 starts and landings of airplanes with a maximum-weight from 5,7 tons, would take place each year. However, the petitioners of plan to raise this tonnage to ten tons could not then be agreed on supplemented the speaksperson.
